Tanya Chua

Nominated For :
Favourite Artist Of Singapore
Singaporean songstress Tanya Chua first created ripples in the local music industry when she became the first Singaporean to pick up a prize at the eminent Asia Song Festival, coming in a coveted first in the Unpublished category in 1998.

That same year, she signed on to Universal Music Taiwan, where she launched her first Mandarin album, Breathe a year later. The album marked a successful breakthrough into the Taiwanese market, making her yet another of Singapore’s successful export talents.

After a discouraging run between 1999 and 2001, Tanya bounced back with a more mature and confident sound in the album Stranger in 2003, contracted by the Warner label in Taiwan.

She had undergone an image overhaul, shedding her previous rock-chick persona, and going for a softer, girlish look to complement her smooth and sultry vocals in an array of mostly romantic ballads.

Her second Warner outing, Amphibian (2005), garnered a Best Annual Female Vocalist at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards, and under her current record label, Asia Muse, Tanya has recently released her latest offering Goodbye & Hello (2007). You can bet Tanya will be saying a lot of Hellos and no Goodbyes to those awards anytime soon.
